Brief History
Gangama Muslim Charity Foundation (GMCF) was established by concerned members of the Muslim community in Gangama, Mbale, in response to the growing social and economic challenges faced by vulnerable families. Over the years, the community observed increasing needs among orphans, widows, the elderly, and low-income households, coupled with limited access to education, healthcare, and basic necessities.
Motivated by Islamic teachings on charity (Zakat, Sadaqah, and community responsibility), the founders came together to create a structured and transparent platform through which collective support could be mobilized. What began as small acts of voluntary assistance, such as food sharing during Ramadan and community fundraising for school fees, gradually evolved into an organized charity foundation serving a wider population.
